Wow, that is CRAZY! My house cost that much here in OKC! We have (just under) 1600 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and it's a fairly old house lol. Plus a 2 car detached garage with space for a shop...
AND ours isn't in the best of shape:(
Yea its prety weird the way the housing market is these days! A lot of people are short selling their homes b/c the prices dropped... which leads to even more homes for sell! Craziness! About 3 yrs ago the first house would have been about $175K.
Yah. We're staying in ours for at least 5-10 years before we plan to sell. Hopefully by then the market will be back on track and we'll get between $25,000 and $50,000 more than we paid for it. We've done some upgrades but even with upgrades if we can get that much over what we paid we'd prob make $10,000-$40,000 profit:) We haven't yet decided if we want to stay here permanently (and make substantial upgrades and add-ons) or just fix it up enough to sell and either buy an upgraded house or have one custom-made. This house needs a lot more work than we originally planned on and we aren't sure we want to mess with it, it may just be easier to move on. It appears we are going to have to do foundation repair and we've already had issues with plumbing, it has electrical issues, etc. So if we keep it then we'll have tons of repairs that will HAVE to be done in the next 5-10 years to keep it from falling apart lol.
